MINI SESSION FAQ
WHAT KIND OF PHOTOGRAPHER ARE YOU?
I’m a photographer that likes to capture the natural, soulful moments. The kind of moments that you want to cherish forever. Those giggles from your child or an embrace from your partner. I love capturing my clients as authentically as possible! That means less posing and more just being yourself.
I’ll be there all the while to guide you, but I love stepping back to let you get in your comfort zone and just hang out with your favorite people for a bit.
WHERE WILL MY SESSION BE HELD?
Your session will be held at a designated Mini Session location in the greater Seattle area. This will change from season to season!
DO YOU USE A FLASH?
I don’t use a flash—I am a completely natural light photographer.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Check out THIS BLOG POST (look at question #2) for ideas on what to wear. Just remember—the main objective is to be yourself!
WHAT HAPPENS IF WE GET RAINED OUT?
I’ll be keeping a close eye on the weather the days leading up to your session date. I’ll make the call about rescheduling the day before your session date since Seattle can be so unpredictable weather-wise and reach out to let you know.
If we must reschedule, I’ll work with you to find a time that works for both of us!
CAN YOU SHOOT PAST MY SESSION TIME IF I ARRIVE LATE?
Since mini sessions are back-to-back, I am unable to shoot for any longer than your designated 20 minute slot. That’s why it’s super important to arrive 10 minutes early for these sessions to allow time for parking and meeting me.
Twenty minutes goes fast and I want us to be able to utilize every one of those minutes!
I SAW SOME POSES ON PINTEREST I LIKED—CAN WE USE THOSE?
Pinterest is an awesome source of inspiration! Instead of using photos you’ve found as a strict guideline for your poses, it’s better to use them more as a general source of inspiration.
When we focus too much on recreating someone else’s work, we won’t have as much time to get the special, unique shots that highlight who you are and what makes you unique (and those are always the best shots!).
WHAT MAKES A SESSION GO SMOOTHLY?
Being relaxed! The best thing you can do for your session is take a breath, go with the flow (the flow even including rambunctious kiddos), and try to really enjoy the session. It’s actually pretty fun to be a model :)
Also, I’ve never had a fall mini session where I’ve gotten less than 30 great shots to choose from.
THIS BLOG POST touches on ways to best prep for a family session and tips for during the session.
WILL I GET DIGITAL PHOTOS FROM THE SHOOT?
Yes! All mini sessions include edited, high-resolution digital images of your choice. You’ll also receive an 8x10 retouched print of your choice!
WHEN, HOW AND WHERE CAN I GET ADDITIONAL PHOTOS AND PRODUCTS?
Good news—you can receive your full gallery of digital images for just $150 more! As soon as your images are finished (7 days after your session), you’ll be able to order print products right within your private final gallery.
Your gallery will be open for 1 year in case you aren’t ready to purchase print products yet.
HOW DO YOU CHOOSE WHICH IMAGES IN MY GALLERY FROM OUR SHOOT?
I carefully look over through each photo to decide which doesn’t make the cut. Most often, the images that are removed contain blinks, the light was too harsh/too dark, were unflattering, or they just simply weren’t as good as others from the same pose and setting.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
Mini Session deposits are non-refundable, but rescheduling is always possible! Should a rescheduling need to take place, please try to do so at least 48 hours before your session and Kiersten will do the same.
In these times, don’t hesitate to let Kiersten know if anyone in your family has symptoms of any kind.
HOW MUCH DOES ALL OF THIS COST?
Mini sessions are $299 + WA State sales tax and include 20 minutes of photo coverage.
